Writing…about writing…about writing

About Lisa, the writer

My experience as a writer includes fiction and non-fiction, as well as writing for newspapers, newsletters, websites, and video documentaries. My business writing history includes business proposals, grant proposals, white papers, requests for proposals, press releases, marketing materials, and any other public-facing document or internal communication you care to name. As the managing editor of a weekly newspaper, The Madisonville Meteor (circ. 3300), much of my duties revolved around writing stories as well as editing them.

Websites: I have written content for more than a dozen websites, ranging from SergeantSocks.com (which she also designed) to QBookkeeping.com, a website developed to advertise QuickBooks® training for small businesses.

Newsletters: My newsletter experience includes serving as the writer and editor of The Critique, the print and online newsletter of the DFW Writers’ workshop in 2005 and 2006. I also began the online version of the University of Texas at Dallas Alumni Link. As a communications consultant for Lockheed Martin, I edited and wrote the employee intranet newsletter, serving over 10,000 employees across the southwestern and central US.

Magazines: I also performed interviews and wrote stories for Lockheed Martin Missile & Fire Control’s house magazine, MFC Spirit.

Fiction and Non-Fiction: I continue to search the marketplace for the right agent for my completed novel titled “Old Flames Burning,” and I’ve completed a number of chapters of a non-fiction book on my experience with gastric bypass, tentatively titled “Finally, the Weight is Over.” My book proposal for “Finally” is making the rounds of agents and publishers now.
